On My Own Terms
Moving with Intention: Reclaiming Love from Within

For a long time, I thought movement was about results — strength, weight, flexibility, aesthetics. I was taught to see my body as something to fix, to mold, or to discipline into submission.
But now I know that movement can be something much deeper.
Something sacred.
Something healing.
Intentional movement has become a form of self-support. It’s how I listen to myself. It’s how I hold space for all the parts of me — the strong, the tender, the tired, the unsure. It’s how I say: I am here. I matter. I deserve to be nurtured.
It didn't start this way.
In fact, the turning point came when my therapist looked at me and said words that left me breathless:
“You’re outsourcing love.”
At first, I recoiled. My body tensed, my mind scrambled for a rebuttal. I felt exposed, embarrassed… but also seen in a way I hadn’t allowed myself to be.
Because deep down, I knew she was right.
I had spent years looking outside of myself for affirmation — through relationships, productivity, perfectionism, service. I knew how to show up for others, but I didn’t know how to show up for myself.
That truth was hard to sit with. But it was also the beginning of everything changing.
Learning to Nurture Myself Wasn’t Easy — But It Set Me Free
Giving myself the love, care, and gentleness I had longed for from others didn’t happen overnight.
It happened in small moments:
- Choosing rest over hustle.
- Moving my body because it felt good, not because I had to.
- Creating rituals that centered my well-being.
- Letting myself be witnessed — not for what I do, but for who I am.
Intentional movement became one of those rituals. A bridge between body and spirit. A daily practice that allowed me to express my emotions, release stuck energy, and reconnect with my power. It’s where I learned how to meet myself with kindness.
There’s a kind of freedom that comes when you stop chasing love and start cultivating it from within. It’s not loud. It’s not always Instagrammable. But it’s real. And it’s sustainable.
Planting Seeds of Intention
When we move with purpose, we plant seeds for something more meaningful:
- Inner strength that doesn’t depend on validation.
- Confidence rooted in knowing, not proving.
- Calm in the body and clarity in the mind.
- A deeper connection to spirit and intuition.
This is the foundation for real growth — not just in our bodies, but in our lives.
But intention doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s a choice. A practice. A lifestyle.
